Nancy Vermeulen

Nancy Vermeulen obtained a master’s degree in theoretical physics and astronomy from the University of Antwerp and completed her airline pilot training at the Sabena Flight Academy. She began her career flying Boeing, Airbus, and private jets, and later became a professional flight instructor. In 2008, she participated in the ESA astronaut selections and, in 2010 she led a simulated Mars expedition in the Utah desert.

In 2018, she founded the Space Training Academy, where she prepares private astronauts and suborbital scientists for their first space journey. As a space ambassador, her mission is to bring space closer to people and vice versa. In 2021, she published her book “Iedereen Ruimtevaarder” (Everyone an Astronaut).

In 2023, Nancy started NaviQueen Consulting, leveraging her expertise from the aviation and space industry with a view to advising the business world on strategic leadership and innovation. Her second book, focusing on leadership and communication, is expected in 2025.

Nancy shares her knowledge and experience as an international motivational speaker and guest lecturer for, among others: TEDx, Deloitte University, and the European Commission. She also provides commentary on space-related topics for the Belgian media. As an independent board member, she contributes to the strategic vision and sustainable growth of companies and organisations. Nancy is also an active member of Rotary.
