Marc De Clercq

Marc De Clercq's professional career was mainly at Ghent University, where he started in 1973 as an assistant at the Faculty of Economics and Business and progressed to full professor (1998) of general economics and environmental economics. Since 1998 he has held various board positions: chairman of the department of general economics, chairman of the Centre for Environmental Economics and Environmental Management, dean, vice-rector.

Marc has been a member of the Royal Flemish Academy of Sciences and Arts of Belgium since 2011. In addition, he held various positions outside Ghent University such as associate professor at the Université de Lille II, professor at the Vlerick School, advisor/committee member/chairman at various national and international institutions, like the EU Commission, the OECD, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, the King Baudouin Foundation, Harvard University, Fevia and Agoria.

Marc is an Honorary Director at VDK Bank, former director at VRT, VAR, CVBA Artevelde, MEEMO. Currently he is chairman of VEB, UGent Connect and FEB Alumni Ugent among others.
