Gert De Winter

Gert De Winter holds a Master's degree in Applied Economics from the University of Antwerp. He worked at Accenture from 1988 to 2004, where he became a partner in 2000. Gert participated in and led many business and IT transformation projects in the banking and insurance sector in Europe.

At the beginning of 2005, he joined Mercator Verzekeringen, a subsidiary of the Swiss insurer Baloise, where he was responsible for IT and HR as a member of the Executive Committee. In 2009, Gert became CEO of Mercator, which, after the acquisitions of Avéro and Nateus, "renamed" itself as Baloise in 2013. At the beginning of 2016, Gert moved to Switzerland where he led the Baloise Group as CEO for almost 8 years.

In mid-2023, Gert decided to retire from his position as Group CEO and free up more time for family and friends, history studies, pilot lessons and volunteer work.

Gert is chairman of the Financial Committee and community treasurer of the Red Cross Flanders and sits on the Board of Directors of AlliA Insurance Partners and Ensur-The Wave.
